City Hall of Amsterdam 01/03 to 12/05 Senior Systems Administrator, 900 users. - Solved a major cooling problem in the server room that had dragged on for months by methodically measuring temperature in each rack then checking airflow and finally removing clogged air filters in the top mounted fans
- Created desktop and laptop images, then created scripts to deploy JD Edwards OneWorld Automated Client installation.
- Supported users, desktop, laptops and printers, did user and computer management in AD and NDS, Created and rolled out application packages and policies. Also provided Microsoft Office user support
- Installed, Troubleshoot and maintained windows 2000 and 2003 web servers and CAD licensing server (LMtools). Did user management and maintenance on mail server.
Found security leak in pay roll system and initiated a project to secure the data. - Made access to the city hall intranet available for public usage, by installing two with policies secured XP workstations available for visitors, then placing the secured workstations in locked display stands.
- Initiated purchases for new workstations and initiated software purchases for various purposes.
- Participated in multiple department relocation projects, both inside the same buildings as well as to new locations (physically moving the computers, building up network, patching and following through with relocation related service calls.
- TCP/IP troubleshooting, DHCP scope management for secure environment, with MAC address filtering, occasional DNS management to resolve intranet related problems.
- Backup Windows, Unix and Novell servers With Backup exec and Arcserve, with the use of a DLT drive in each server and keeping documentation of past back ups.
- Created documentation by writing installation steps in word documents and by creating Visio documents of the network and server room configuration.
- Administrated and monitored Citrix MetaFrame 1.8/2000/Presentation Server farm with HP Insight Manager, disconnecting crashed users (if possibly saving open documents from temp locations) rebooting crashed servers and maintaining log of server crashes.
